Doodling requires no artistic skills, and is anything but mindless.  Doodling enhances comprehension and concentration: a recent study shows that people who doodle are more likely to retain information than non-doodlers. Putting pencil or pen to paper and randomly sketching is also shown to relieve stress, improve your mood, and enhance creativity.
